Starting Your Morning Right

Many of us can relate to having a hectic start to our mornings. Early alarm clocks, a flurry of clothes, shoes, a rushed breakfast and then out the door. Throw in some frantic email checking or to-do lists and you have a pretty busy start to the day.


Instead of starting your day off with energy draining activities, try making some changes to your morning routine like:


1. Being mindful of your body when you wake up – feel the warmth of the sheets, the position of your body or even focus on your breath


2. Taking a few extra minutes to set a positive intention for the day


3. If you have a pet, take a few minutes to share some love with them


4. Savour your tea or coffee in the morning. Whether it be in your favourite chair or out in the morning breeze

Taking an extra few minutes of time for self care will support a calm and grounded start to your day. The intent is to not only retain your relaxed state throughout the day, but also a means for you to have a reference point of calm. During a stressful moment in your day, you can bring your mind back to how you felt in the moment. This is just a simple tool you can use to support your mindful journey.
