Self care does not have to be complicated. Close observation and little changes can yield big results! Take body posture for example. Slight adjustments of how you carry yourself, have an big effect on your mood.

Try this activity:

Sit down in a chair or couch and slouch over. Slump down, cave your chest in and observe. How do you feel? Happy? Confident? Self Assured? Probably not.

Now get up and and plant your feet should width apart. Bring your chest out, bring your chin up and plant your hands on your hips. Taa Daa! You are now in the Super (man or woman...or person!) pose. Hold the pose for a few moments. Take a deep breath and exhale. Check in and see how you feel.

Why it works:

Social Psychologist Amy Cuddy found standing in the super "person" stance boosted self confidence, while other studies found the effect of posture on mood was significant for individuals who may have or are experiencing depression. Self care really can be as simple as checking in with your posture, rolling your shoulders back and taking a deep breath. Fill your lungs with oxygen and straighten your back. Feel the gentle shift within yourselves.
