1. Find a comfortable position and sit down either cross legged or in a chair with your feet flat on the floor
2. Take a few gentle breathes in and gently breathe out
3. When you are ready close your eyes
4. As you breathe normally bring your mind to focus on where you feel the sensation of the breath the strongest. Wherever you feel the sensation the strongest, keep your mind there throughout the duration of your session.
5. Keep your awareness on the areas where the breath touches your nose as you breath in and out
6. Your attention may shift from your breath to a sensation in your body or a sound outside. That’s ok. Bring your mind back to the area where you were feeling the sensation of your breath.
A certain level of commitment, concentration and calm is necessary to develop a successful meditation practice. In the beginning it will feel tedious, difficult and you may think that you are not moving forward with this. Sometimes the most challenging things in life help us to develop the wings we need to get us off the ground.
Let me know how your practice is going in the comments below.
