When you read the title of this article, what was the first thing that came to mind? Let me ask you a question then – when was the last time that you did absolutely nothing? By nothing, I mean, you took the time to just be, to just feel but not think, judge or plan? Nothing. It’s a word that may scare many of us. With technology at our fingertips, how many of us have actually done nothing at all. Our minds are so used to functioning at a million miles an hour, jumping from one topic to another. Also known as the Monkey Brain, this jumping from thought to thought happens to all of us, but it can be exhausting and sometimes counterproductive.

Now, you may think that you don’t have the time. There are so many things to do! So what’s the secret? Schedule a meeting with yourself. It can be for as much time as you can would like. Set a timer and just enjoy the opportunity to be still.

As you sit and just be, your brain is getting the opportunity to process things without battling with new stimulations. Thoughts may come and go but try to take the stance of casual observer. Make note that you had a thought and just let it be. If you get a sensation in your body, do the same thing. Just be with yourself. Try it out and you will see the power of doing nothing. #calmmind #doingnothing #mindfulness #justbe #mindfulmoment #takeamoment
