Taking the time to recognize that you have been mindful is an important part of your practice. Acknowledging or noting that you have been mindful not only reinforces the progress of your practice. It can also do something more important. Acknowledgment shows that you are also on the road to acceptance.
Before we get to acceptance though, lets go back to acknowledgment. What does that look like?
Acknowledgment can begin with a simple statement like, "I feel the pressure of my feet on the floor," "I feel quite angry right now," or "My mind just wandered." Make note of your thought, emotion or feeling and then let it pass with acceptance. This means letting what is in your mind move on without reaction or judgment.

Once you have acknowledged your thought, feeling or emotion, write it down. Each time you have a mindful moment make it a practice to acknowledge and write. As the practice of noting and writing becomes more fluid and second nature or you feel as though you are honing your mindfulness consider maintaining your mindful journal.
Putting pen to paper can be a wonderful way to make sense of thoughts and emotions. Whether they are thoughts that you have acknowledged but have a hard time letting go or just things that need a little bit of sorting, your mindful journal will give you the time and space to acknowledge and accept.
Go forth and have a mindful moment....or two!
What are your thoughts on acknowledging and accepting your thoughts? Do you think writing them down will help or hinder your mindful journey?
