The body. A wonderous vehicle that carries us though this journey of life. We commit to caring for it, including learning how to listen to its needs. The body is quite vocal about many things, and we can tune in by introducing mindfulness. Not only will you learn what your body needs, but you can learn so much about the world around you. Practicing body awareness can really help you hone in on how your emotional and physical feelings are intimately connected and how one affects the other.
What is it?
The practice of body awareness or mindfulness of the body is called The Body Scan. The purpose of this meditation is to have an inner body or within the body experience. If you, like many of us, spend a lot of time existing outside of your body and contemplating the past or the future, you might find this meditation quite useful.
